Testimonials

  • As an international student, I first heard of Duke-NUS when I was attending a conference held in Singapore. I was attracted to this School because of its unique curriculum and innovative, learner-centred pedagogy. In addition, I was impressed by the Admission Team’s efficiency and responsiveness in replying enquires from potential applicants. One of the unique feature of Duke-NUS is its diversity – my class has a substantial number of international students, as well as local students who graduated overseas. Apart from the innovating learning experience, the research year in Duke-NUS also enriched me with literacy in medical statistics and healthcare research.

  • I chose Duke-NUS because I found the learning culture of the school to be very mature and directed. I really enjoy the independent learning that the school adopts. Each is given their own reign to decide how they enjoy studying while the school supports us by directing us to a range of materials (be it audio, visual, physical). Students here also really know themselves and have a strong determination and a clarity about their goals. Despite the diverse and unique backgrounds of the student body, everyone is connected by a shared commitment to becoming good doctors. I found the school compound very appealing too and the faculty approachable and invested in us. The Duke-NUS programme has given me a lot of support to grow as an individual, not just as medical student.

  • Choosing Duke-NUS and leaving my comfort zone was the start of an adventure. Being an international student, Duke-NUS quickly became my family away from home, and the small class size allowed my peers and I to support each other and form a close knit community. In addition to equipping us with the necessary medical knowledge, emphasizing from early on the importance of communication and teamwork in healthcare, Duke-NUS also taught us not to shy away from innovation by equipping us with fundamental skills in conducting various types of research.

Now a third year resident, I’m still in close contact with friends and faculty members I met at Duke-NUS, and I will always be proud to be a Dukie!
