Dr Bibhas Chakraborty is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Quantitative Medicine and the Health Services and Systems Research programme, Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore. He also holds a joint appointment as Associate Professor at the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability, National University of Singapore, and an Adjunct Associate Professor position at the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University in the United States. Prior to his move to Singapore, he was an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at Columbia University. At Duke-NUS, he has previously served as the Director of the Centre for Quantitative Medicine during 2014-2018, and also as the founding Co-director of the PhD programme in Integrated Biostatistics and Bioinformatics (later re-branded as Quantitative Biology and Medicine).
His primary research interests include developing cutting-edge trial designs and novel statistical and machine learning methods for data analysis that are broadly applicable in the space of precision and mobile/digital health, and are particularly appealing in the context of chronic disease management. He has authored the first textbook on dynamic treatment regimes, a sub-area of quantitative precision health. In 2017, he won the prestigious Young Statistical Scientist Award from the International Indian Statistical Association.
