Dr Louise Lafortune is a Senior Research Associate in the Public Health and Ageing Research Unit at the Institute of Public Health, University of Cambridge. She is Principal Investigator for the NIHR School of Public Health Research (UK) and lead researcher in the Population Evidence and Data Science theme of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration for the East of England.

Concerned with the practical application of research findings for population benefit, her research interests encompass the development and evaluation of interventions aimed at improving the care of individuals with complex needs, namely people affected by dementia and frail older people. Her current work includes a project on Frailty and Care Trajectories harnessing routinely collected data across care settings, and a long-standing research programme aimed at developing the evidence base for Age Friendly Community initiatives.  

Dr Louise holds a dual PhD in Public Health (epidemiology; health care organisation), and has a strong scientific background that includes nine years of industry engagement in clinical trials, health economics and outcomes research.
