Peter McDonald is Professor of Demography in the University of Melbourne. He has been a Chief Investigator of the Australian Research Council's Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research since 2011. He was President of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) for the years, 2010-13. In 2015, he received the Irene B. Taeuber Award from the Population Association of America, only the 4th non-American to receive this award. In 2008, he was awarded an Order of Australia.
