Malcolm Ravindran is a Senior Research Assistant at the Centre for Ageing Research and Education, with the qualitative team. He has worked on conceptual studies covering topics such as the subjective understanding of loneliness, or walkability & life space for older persons. He has also contributed to evaluating a heritage-based arts programme, social service and care delivery models, and a national-level screening programme.

Malcolm is both a trained nurse and social worked with experience working with older persons in the community, and patients with renal failure. He had previously been a research assistant with the Sociology Department in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), focusing on inequality research.

Malcolm’s research primarily seeks to understand the subjective experience of ageing, understanding the lived experience of older adults in Singapore.

He takes a strong interest in the following topics:

  1. Religiosity and community building in older adults
  2. Access to healthcare resources
  3. Loneliness & Social Isolation
  4. Impact of culture on healthcare decisions
  5. Influence of one’s lived environment on daily life
