Bio
Associate Professor Jaya Seneviratne is affiliated to the National Dental Research Institute Singapore (NDRIS), National Dental Centre Singapore, SingHealth Duke NUS and currently the Head of Singapore Oral Microbiomics Initiative (SOMI). He obtained his PhD in Oral Microbiology at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) with the Outstanding Research Postgraduate Award. He completed a Diploma in Immunology from Pasteur Institute, HKU and an advanced course in Proteomics Bioinformatics from the European Bioinformatics Institute, UK. He served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong (2010-2013) and at the National University of Singapore (2013-2018).
A/Prof Seneviratne has 74 international publications (h-index=29,i10-index=52). His research team has received over 20 prestigious awards from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR). He was the Chairman of IADR Constitution committee in 2017/18 and is currently a member of the IADR Fellowship Committee.
A/Prof. Seneviratne’s major research interests are oral microbiome, biofilm infections and salivary biomarkers. His SOMI research group has ongoing studies on oral microbiome-systemic link. His research projects have been supported by local and international funding agencies including Singapore National Medical Research Council (NMRC), Hong Kong Health Promotion Board and University Grants Committee, IADR and industrial partners. A/Prof. Seneviratne services in the editorial boards of highly reputed journals including Critical Reviews in Microbiology.
