Bio

Dr. Lee Kian Leong is a Senior Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Hematologic Malignancies working with Ong Sin Tiong in the Cancer & Stem Cell Biology Signature Research Programme (CSCB) of Duke-NUS Medical School. Dr. Lee obtained his B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, France. He then graduated with a M.Sc. in Molecular Medicine with distinction, and Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine Research under the Medical Research Council (MRC) Predoctoral Fellowship at Imperial College London, UK. Subsequently, he worked jointly with Lim Bing at the A*STAR Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) and Henry Yang at the Bioinformatics Institute (BII) combining both wet lab and computational approaches in addressing how different signalling strengths of the TGF-beta pathway lead to the specification of distinct embryonic stem cell differentiation programs. Later, he joined the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI Singapore) and worked closely with the late Lorenz Poellinger studying how hypoxia and HIF transcription factors function as key drivers of diverse cancers. Currently at Duke-NUS Medical School, he examines mechanisms of resistance and identifies therapeutic vulnerabilities and biomarkers in leukemia using unbiased data driven approaches in multiomics studies of primary patients. Dr. Lee has 48 publications with an h-index of 26 and i10-index of 33.
