Dr. Marcus Buggert earned his Ph.D. in 2014 from Karolinska Institutet,
Sweden, focusing on immune control of HIV. He conducted post-doctoral
research at the University of Pennsylvania, studying memory T
cells in tissues. Returning to Karolinska Institutet in 2018, he joined the Center for Infection
Medicine as a centrally-funded Assistant Professor, specializing in
human antiviral immunity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he launched
several translational immunology initiatives, leading to numerous high
profile publications and awards.
