Dr Tan earned his PhD from Columbia University (USA) working under Prof. Bridget Carragher, Prof. Clint Potter and Prof. Filippo Mancia, and did his post‐doctoral training at The Hospital for Sick Children (Canada) under Prof. John Rubinstein. Trained as a cryogenic electron microscopist, he has solved structures of various macromolecules from ribosomes to membrane proteins, and has a keen interest in methods development. He is now an Assistant Professor at NUS DBS, joint with A*STAR DITL.
