Dr Akshar Saxena is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Nanyang Technological University. He holds a Doctor of Science degree from Harvard University. His research focuses on health economics and public economics. He works on the interactions between individual’s health and labor decisions, and government’s policies on sin-taxes, healthcare financing, and social security. He has worked with Ministry of Health, Singapore on designing and implementing policies of non-communicable diseases. He has also been a consultant to the World Bank and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
