Academic Medicine

About Academic Medicine

Together with our academic partner, SingHealth, we at Duke-NUS are committed to developing the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC) into a vibrant academic healthcare ecosystem that supports the advancement of our clinician faculty and researchers, healthcare professionals, medical students and administrators, ultimately transforming medicine and improving lives.

By leveraging the synergies in clinical care, research, education and innovation created through our 15 Academic Clinical Programmes, 16 SingHealth Duke-NUS Disease Centres and 19 Joint Institutes and Centres. We drive transformative progress in research excellence, medical education and patient outcomes, benefitting both the local and global healthcare communities.

The Office of Academic Medicine plays a crucial role in steering the AMC's academic mission. We provide strategic oversight and coordination of various initiatives and programmes designed to build research competencies, foster education excellence and advance clinical care. Through these programmes, we strive to create a dynamic environment that nurtures the growth and recognition of our faculties.

Advancing Academic Medicine through strategic initiatives

The Academic Programmes Management Department (APMD) drives a series of Academic Medicine initiatives, including academic programmes grant support, academic talent recognition, academic liaison and strategic partnership and collaboration with Duke University in Durham. Our various teams foster the exchange of knowledge and ideas to enhance the capacity of innovation and discovery and create a robust community of support within the AMC.

Hall of Master Academic Clinicians

Vital to the success of our School and the wider AMC are the many clinicians who have dedicated themselves to providing the best care to their patients, elevating those around them through their professionalism and mentorship and inspiring the next generation through their pursuit of scholarly excellence.

To recognise their invaluable contributions and vital role, we established the Hall of Master Academic Clinicians in 2021. Each year, we induct a select and accomplished group of clinical faculty into the Hall, which is the highest honour bestowed by the School. Our Master Academic Clinicians are recognised for their exceptional ability in combining clinical mastery, exemplary standards of professionalism, leadership and outstanding academic achievement.
