Become a doctor - tuition fees and scholarships for every programme

For students admitted to the PhD (IBM/QBM) programme at Duke-NUS, the following will be provided:

• A scholarship covering 100% of tuition and miscellaneous fees payable for the 4-year duration; and
• A monthly stipend for the 4-year duration of the PhD programme

Students admitted to the PhD (CTS) programme at Duke-NUS from Intake 2024 will be required to pay annual tuition fees of $28,000 along with Miscellaneous Student Fees.

For students admitted to the MD-PhD programme, tuition fees comprise two components, namely the government-subsidised MD programme and the non government-subsidised PhD programme.

For MD-PhD students admitted in Academic Year 2024-2025, annual tuition fees for the MD component are as follows:

• Singapore Citizens: SGD 49,050 (GST subsidy provided)
• Singapore Permanent Residents: SGD 63,600 (GST subsidy provided)
• International Students: SGD 85,700 (inclusive of GST) 

 
For the MD COMPONENT, depending on the year in which students embark on their PhD programme, students will receive either of the following:

 
For MD-PhD students entering PhD programme before AY2018:

1. A MD-PhD Pre-Research Scholarship, of equivalent value to the tuition fees paid (nett of any bursary and/or merit scholarship received) for the first 2 years of MD programme will be provided shortly after beginning their PhD; and

2. A MD-PhD Final Year Scholarship of equivalent in value to the tuition fees payable (nett of any bursary and/or merit scholarship to be receive) for their final phase of MD studies, will be provided in their final MD year.

For MD-PhD students entering PhD programme after AY2018:

Shortly before the start of their PhD studies, a MD-PhD Tuition Support Scholarship will be awarded covering MD out-of-pocket MD tuition fees paid during the first 2 years of as well as the final phase of MD studies.

 
For the PhD COMPONENT, MD-PhD students will receive:

• A scholarship covering 100% of tuition and miscellaneous fees payable for the 4-year duration; and
• A monthly stipend for the 4-year duration of the PhD.

For students admitted into the MITM programme at Duke-NUS in Academic Year 2022, fees are as follows:

• Per Annum Fee : *SGD 25,000 (Per Semester Fee : *SGD 12,500)

*inclusive of GST for both tuition and miscellaneous fees

Applicants who wish to seek sponsorship for their MITM studies are required to:

1. Where applicable, put in your application for the NMRC Research Training Fellowship Grant, through your department/ACP; and

2. Seek the support of your employer with the understanding that the Department /ACP is agreeable to sponsor for your course in the event of an unsuccessful application under the NMRC Research Training Fellowship scheme:

a) Employer is required to duly complete the Corporate Sponsorship Form and applicant is to submit the form via email to financialaid@nus.edu.sg; and

b) A copy of the Corporate Sponsorship Form completed by their employer-cum-sponsor should also be provided to admissions@duke-nus.edu.sg to complete your online admissions application.

Important to note:

1. Payment of fees for the MITM programme is by semester

2. SSG Funding schemes are NOT available for the MITM programme

3. Applicants who are offered admission to the MITM programme are required to pay a non-refundable acceptance fees of S$12,500 as part of the Admission acceptance process. The payment will be use for offset of the first semester’s fees payable upon student’s enrolment.  

4. For SingHealth Staff who have submitted the Corporate Sponsorship Form, payment for the non-refundable acceptance fees of S$12,500 is not required

Students are required to pay mandatory miscellaneous fees as listed on the NUS Registrar's Office website. These pertain to services not covered under tuition fees, such as health service fees. Please visit NUS Fees page for the latest miscellaneous fees.

There is no service commitment for PhD graduates.
