Dr Vivian W. Q. LOU is the Director of the Sau Po Centre on Ageing at the University of Hong Kong. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work & Social Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences, at the University of Hong Kong.
Dr Lou has worked in social gerontology research for over twenty years; her work primarily relates to the psychological well-being of older adults and caregivers, evidence-based intervention development, policy evaluation, and policy advocates. She is now a member of the Elder Commission, the Community Inclusion and Investment Fund, and the Statistic Advisory Board, upon which she contributes to policy discussion relating to ageing, social inclusion, and statistical services for a better Hong Kong.
In 2015, Dr Lou was elected Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) in recognition of her outstanding international contribution to the field of gerontology. She now serves as a convenor of the Ageing Among Asia interest group, which passionately develops high quality research in the context of ageing among Asia and nurtures the scholarly community in this field. She is also a council member in the Hong Kong Association of Gerontology and a member of the International Association of Gerontology.
