Duke-NUS Health Data Science Symposium

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, natural language processing, convoluted neural networks. This is the new vocabulary of data science in medicine.

DAISI, the Centre for Quantitative Medicine (CQM) and the Centre for Computational Biology (CCB), joined forces to co-host the first annual Duke-NUS Health Data Science Symposium on 3 November to help SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre clinicians gain both comfort with the language and familiarity with new methods.

Following the opening remarks by Director for CQM Professor Roger Vaughan and Senior Vice-Dean for Research Professor Patrick Tan, the symposium featured presentations from AI specialists from Duke-NUS, across Singapore, and from international experts, in addition to presentations by four Duke-NUS QBM PhD students.

“With the new emphasis on AI validity and interpretability," said Prof Tan, “this symposium demonstrates how Duke-NUS can partner to help lead the safe development and implementation of AI products into healthcare”.
