EID Seminar Series - Anti-inflammatory drugs for infectious diseases: pro-resolving molecules

In the last 10 years, we have conducted clinical studies to test a vaccine (Butantan/NIH) against dengue, the impact of Wolbachia release on the incidence of arboviral infection and the effects of anti-viral drugs against dengue. Our previous studies have provided convincing evidence that the inflammatory response contributes to disease during host - microbial interactions and aspects of the inflammatory response can be targeted for the
development of novel inflammation-based therapies to treat infection. In the talk, we will
discuss the potential of harnessing mediators of the resolution of inflammation to tame the
exacerbated inflammatory response that follows certain infectious diseases.

resolution-based therapies for inflammation in the context of infection and chronic sterile
inammation.
