Clinical Professor Terrance Chua is the Advisor and Senior Consultant with the Department of Cardiology at the National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS). He was the Chief Executive Officer at NHCS until 31 May 2023. Prof Chua is also the Group Chairman, Medical Board at SingHealth, and the Advisor of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Cardiovascular Sciences Academic Clinical Programme. Additionally, he helms the role of Chairman of the Residency Advisory Committee for Cardiology, Ministry of Health, Singapore. His clinical interest is Nuclear Cardiology.

 

Prof Chua has special interests in cardiac imaging, and have certifications in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT) by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, and Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from the National University of Singapore. Prof Chua is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology, the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, and the Royal College of Physicians in London, as well as the Academy of Medicine, Cardiology, Singapore. 

 

Prof Chua contributes to research with his keen interest and insights in cardiac imaging. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology and the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. He has a interest in promoting training in cardiology and started the Cardiology Update and Cardiology PACES courses at NHCS. He has an appointment as Clinical Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. 
Prof Chua has received numerous awards. He was conferred the National Outstanding Clinician Award at the National Medical Excellence Awards in 2013 for his contributions to the development of nuclear cardiology in Singapore.

 

He is also the immediate past chairman and current board member of the Singapore Heart Foundation, a charity whose goals are to promote heart health in Singapore and educate the public on heart disease.
