Program Description
This course aims to equip students with fundamental knowledge in econometric methods commonly applied in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). These methods can be used to evaluate effectiveness of technologies, assess policies for select products/services, and quantify disease burden using real world evidence data. The course begins with basic statistical theory review and econometric analysis with the simple linear regression model in order to develop a foundational understanding of data analysis, model building, and hypothesis testing. We then extend the analyses to include multivariate controls and binary outcomes. All examples will be based on real world applications.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Use the Stata programming language, which is the standard for health economic analyses
- Conduct real world effectiveness studies using common methods that control for selection and other biases
As part of the micro-credential initiative, you may choose to take this course alone if you do not wish to take the full Graduate Certificate program.
