Jian Yun’s performance throughout the pandemic and since then has been remarkable. During that period, the Programme has recruited faculty and trained new admin staff. There has also been a large increase in the number of contracts, grants, agreements, etc, that have been processed through the Programme. Through these challenges, Jian Yun has remained calm and focused and has been a great asset to EID in ensuring its continued success.
Jian Yun leads the admin team in EID. She has provided invaluable guidance to her team, particularly in mentoring new staff. Her leadership has fostered a collaborative and supportive environment within the team, ensuring that newcomers are well-integrated and confident in their roles, helping them build their skills and confidence in managing complex administrative tasks. Her expertise is highly valued by the Principal Investigators, who often approach her with confidence to manage their grants.
Rachel Choi Huiyi

Rachel makes exceptional contributions as the lead for the Research and Scholarship thread within the MD Programme. In this role, she is responsible for coordinating a range of critical initiatives that cut across the Office of Education, the Academic Clinical Programmes, and the Office of Research. Rachel provides indispensable secretariat support for the Research & Scholarship Committee, ensuring that Duke-NUS students develop the unique academic skills necessary to become future leaders, educators, scholars, and scientists in healthcare.
Rachel has an outstanding ability to lead and execute the annual Research Day event – she has consistently delivered it successfully and it is well received by all involved. She also provides the substantial efforts required as the secretariat of the Duke-NUS Department Ethics Review Committee. Rachel’s contributions have had a profound impact on the development of our students and the advancement of the MD Programme.

J-Min is an enthusiastic and extremely reliable staff member who will execute her areas of work responsibilities from end to end with accuracy, completeness and quality. This is critical given that she has to work closely with the business manager, Heads of Departments and hiring managers across the Office of Education, in their recruitment and manpower management matters.
J-Min displays a high level of professionalism, is proactive in resolving issues and has an enduring passion to contribute to the best of her capabilities. J-Min is a highly confident staff member who is a firm advocate of service excellence in providing solid advisory to the Office of Education on various staff matters, ranging from recruitment needs to managing existing staff matters, and various staff feedback. She has built a good rapport and fostered strong working relationships with the various heads of departments and key personnels and has always been on top of matters.

Aisyah supports SDGHI and Centre for Outbreak Preparedness (COP)’s events that are held on campus, liaising with facilities management and external caterers. To ensure a memorable experience at these events, she often sources for caterers that not only provide food that is delicious, but also value for money. Aisyah also supports the travel arrangement for our training events that involve overseas participants. She coordinates with the travel agents and hotels to support the travel requirements of the participants. Aisyah has proven to be the go-to person for all our events requirements.
Aisyah is also currently mentoring a new Management Assistant Officer (MAO) to provide administrative support for COP and SDGHI. Aisyah has no qualms about imparting the knowledge she has gained, providing step by step guidance based on her experience when she had to pick up the skills as a new MAO. Aisyah is a wonderful team player and is always ready to learn new things to be better.
Linda Tan Ya Hui
Signature Research Programme in Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disorders (CVMD)
Linda has excelled as the core administrator overseeing the Diabetes Study in Nephropathy And Other Microvascular Complications (DYNAMO), funded by the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) with S$25M. Despite the extensive administrative scope involved in DYNAMO, Linda performed her role with confidence and professionalism, always aiming to streamline work processes for better efficiency and results. She demonstrated a remarkable ability to anticipate potential issues and devise solutions to overcome them.
In her role, Linda works closely with internal colleagues from the Sponsored Research Department, Finance, CVMD, Contracts & Industry Engagement, among others. She also maintains close liaison with external stakeholders from other institutions involved in the study. Linda has demonstrated exemplary teamwork, fostering trust and collaboration across both internal and external parties, which has significantly contributed to the study’s administrative success. She is always open to ideas and assertive in her approach to addressing problems and issues. Ultimately, Linda consistently finds solutions that satisfy all stakeholders involved.
