Administrative Achievement Awards (AAA) 2021 Winners

AAA 2021 Winner

Willy Dharman
Senior IT Analyst
Information Technology
Office of Corporate Services

The COVID-19 pandemic has hastened a rise in remote working for many organisations and over at Duke-NUS, majority of the Executive & Administrative staff members are now operating from home. In order to enable staff a smooth and seamless transition to the work-from-home arrangements, Willy has successfully setup and implemented Document eApproval workflows as part of the e-Workflow system within a few months. This has also eased off the administration burden and requirement of staff to come into the office to procure wet signatures.

What was the most meaningful contribution you made in the course of your work in 2021?
I have to say the Document eApproval integration with DocuSign in the e-Workflow System. It extends the functionality of our current system for a great deal, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 situation where online approvals and digital signatures have become common and necessary.

AAA 2021 Merit Recipient

Bernice Chio Cheng Zhe
Assistant Manager
Centre for Quantitative Medicine
Office of Research

Bernice oversees the budget and ensures that all headcounts and FTEs are accounted for accurately. In the midst of the Circuit Breaker restrictions in 2020, she also managed the moving logistics and ensured a smooth transition when the department had to relocate their office space.

What was the most meaningful contribution you made in the course of your work in 2021?
I find satisfaction whenever I can accomplish my tasks to the best of my ability whether it is for the department or to the individual Principal Investigators. I thoroughly enjoy finding solutions to problems and completing my tasks efficiently. My fondest memory this year was organising a retirement party for one of my Professors. Although it was not a typical work event, my team and I were glad to bring the department (and some external stakeholders) together for a meaningful celebration. Through this event, I'm reminded that my role as administrator goes beyond daily paperwork and that we can also impact the lives of our co-workers positively.

AAA 2021 Merit Recipient

Guan Yuguang
Senior Manager
Research Operations
Office of Research

Yuguang is extremely committed, delegates and mentors her team to take on greater level of responsibilities within their roles. She has been instrumental in the rollout of the research service provision workflow, communication with stakeholders and ironing out the operational kinks. She also provided training for the administrative leads on processes related to approval forms and overhead charging calculation matters.

What was the most meaningful contribution you made in the course of your work in 2021?
That would be the rollout of the workflow for the Provision of Research Service as we have streamlined and standardised the process to ensure both the School’s core facility and Ad-hoc research services’ compliance in procurement, safety, conflict interest, etc. The new process also improves the work efficiency across the departments.
