Climate Change and Mental Health

An interactive program targeting the nexus of climate change and mental health and it’s impact in the Asia-Pacific region, featuring research, best practices, lived experiences, and collaborative efforts to build capacity for research, advocacy, and intervention.

The Mental Health Landscape in Asia

Mental health issues are increasingly recognised as a critical component of overall health. However, in many parts of Asia, mental health awareness, support, and resources remain limited. By bridging these gaps, we can make a profound impact on individuals, families, and communities.

At GMH Asia 2025, we will focus on addressing the main mental health priorities for Asia, examining prevailing needs and identifying gaps in mental health services, exploring barriers and implementation challenges and exchanging best practices and key recommendations to collectively advance mental health.

Join us for the main symposium on 17th – 18th February 2025.

Post-Symposium: Climate Change and Mental Health

Globally, the nexus of climate change and mental health is an emerging field of inquiry and arena for action. There is a growing recognition of the various psychological consequences of climate change – from immediate trauma due to extreme weather events to the slow and subtle ‘climate anxiety’ that is predominantly affecting the next generation.

The post-symposium workshop on 19th February 2025 aims to address pertinent issues that arise from the intersection of climate change and mental health. The workshop is jointly organised by the SDGHI Global Mental Health Programme, SDGHI Planetary Health Initiative, and Connecting Climate Minds.
