Our Approach

Our Programmes

At SDGHI, we deliver impact through dedicated teams driving key programmes, including:

Health Systems Strengthening

Innovation

Early Childhood Development

Global Mental Health

Planetary Health

As our programmes evolve, they often mature into sustainable centres. These centres represent the culmination of targeted growth and expertise, operating with greater autonomy to deepen their impact.

Our commitment to collaboration

Our Global Health Institute serves as an enabling platform to advance health equity, empowering communities and driving impactful solutions. We believe in the power of collaboration—because together, we are stronger and can achieve more.

We collaborate closely with several affiliated centres outside of SDGHI but within the global health domain:

Other key strategic partners include:

  • Our Regional Collaborating Centres

Our commitment to impact

Our project selection process is driven by a commitment to measurable impact. We only embark on new initiatives when:

1. There is a clear and demonstrated need.

2. We are uniquely positioned to address that need effectively.

From the outset, our Programme Evaluation Unit (PEU) ensures that every project aligns with our strategic goals and includes clear pathways for success. This rigorous evaluation guarantees that our work consistently drives tangible outcomes.

Our commitment to equity

Equity is a cornerstone of SDGHI’s approach, as it underpins our efforts to create fairer, more inclusive global health outcomes. We are dedicated to embedding decolonial principles into our initiatives by:

  • Acknowledging history: Recognising the colonial roots of uneven power dynamics in global health.
  • Challenging inequities: Addressing systems that perpetuate these imbalances.
  • Using privilege responsibly: Leveraging our institutional resources to support rather than impose knowledge and leadership, ensuring partnerships are collaborative and respectful.

Incorporating decoloniality into global health is an ongoing effort. SDGHI is committed to fostering dialogue and continuously refining our practices to serve as an empowering resource in the region. By remaining mindful of our influence, we strive to create a positive and equitable impact for the communities we serve.
