Centre for Global Nursing

Advancing nursing healthcare excellence on a global scale

The World Health Organization projects that by 2030, there will be a global shortage of 15 to 18 million healthcare workers needed to achieve universal healthcare coverage.

Recognising these needs, the Centre for Global Nursing is a strategic platform under the SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) which aims to advance nursing knowledge and education, improve nursing care delivery, reduce health inequities, and shape nursing policies on both national and international fronts.

Vision

Working with partners in Asia and beyond, the Centre for Global Nursing aims to facilitate programmes that improve population health outcomes, build nursing capability and capacity, and strengthen health systems through education, research and innovation.

In Line with the World’s Goals

Our global nursing perspective is aligned with the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Global Strategic Directions for Strengthening Nursing and Midwifery and the first-ever State of the World’s Nursing 2020 report. These reports were developed by WHO in partnership with the International Council of Nurses and the global Nursing Now campaign, both of which provide a compelling case of the value of the nursing workforce in impacting public good, improving health and strengthening economies globally.
