Although a wide variety of methods are available for conducting vaccine safety studies, the spontaneous reporting system is one method that is used throughout the life-cycle of a drug and is now operational in most countries. VigiBase is the WHO global database of individual case safety reports (ICSRs). It is the single largest drug safety data repository in the world and a valuable source used to obtain information about safety profiles of medicines including COVID-19 vaccines. Since 1978, the UMC on behalf of WHO, develops, maintains and analyses VigiBase. This webinar moderated by Dr Lembit Rägo, Secretary-General of CIOMS, describes the WHO global database with a focus on COVID-19 vaccines and three ongoing vaccines related activities at the UMC.
