Serious Illness Conversations Workshop

Welcome to the Serious Illness Conversations Workshop!

This 1.5-day workshop will equip healthcare professionals (HCP) with the skills to conduct serious illness conversations (SIC) with patients and families. The SIC Program offers HCP a structure and language to talk with seriously ill patients about their values and goals as part of shared decision making.

Workshop Content

Learning Objectives:

Appreciate the benefits of serious illness conversations
Discuss the evidence for the Serious Illness Conversation (SIC) Program
Identify key elements of the SIC Guide
Practise use of the SIC Guide
Understand how SIC fits into continuum of Advanced Care Planning
Discuss the barriers and enablers to real world implementation of the SIC Program

E-learning: The course will officially start 2 weeks before F2F days listed above. Participants will be enrolled into pre-workshop online course (COMETs) and will be required to complete the online coursework before the teaching sessions, done at your own pace.

Workshop Fee:

Doctors: SGD 350 before GST

Nurses, MSWs and Allied Health: SGD 200 before GST

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

Please be informed withdrawal from workshop must be made in writing for refund of fees.

Accreditation & Certification

This workshop is pending accreditation from the Singapore Medical Council, Singapore Nursing Board & Singapore Pharmacy Council.
Continuing education credits are available for LCPC events through the Singapore Medical Council (SMC), Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) and Singapore Pharmacy Council (SPC) subject to their respective approvals.

Upon completion of each workshop, participants can claim up to 6 CPE points from SMC/SNB or up to 5 CPE points from SPC.

Attendees who wish to avail of the credits are required to sign the relevant registration form along with their CPE/CME number on the day(s) of the events.

The attendee’s registration details will be submitted after the event and credited upon receiving respective approvals.
Workshop participants will be awarded with an e-Certificate of Completion at the end of the workshop*.

*The e-Certificate of Completion will only be awarded to participants who achieved at least 80% attendance for face-to-face teachings and completion of all coursework (including assessments and evaluation)

Target Audience

Doctors, nurses, social workers and other healthcare professionals who care for patients with serious illnesses and have a passion to learn communication skills to conduct serious illness conversations.

Proficiency in English
Ability to commit to the entire 1.5-day workshop
