It can be hard to help your loved one. Here are some insights on how to support them:
- Try to understand what is most important to your loved one when managing his/her disease
- Try to understand what kind of fears and concerns your loved one has
- Ask your loved one what kind of treatment he/she wants
- Respect the preferences of your loved one
- Help your loved one communicate what he/she wants to his/her doctor
Managing End Stage Renal Disease is often a difficult time for both patients and their caregivers. If you have difficulty with caregiving duties, remember the medical team (doctors, nurses, social workers etc.) is always ready to help you. Do not hesitate to reach out if you need help.
