Bio
Having had a passion for Biology since early school, Sven studied Biology at the Technical University of Braunschweig graduating with an MSc. This was followed by his Ph.D. studies at the University of Birmingham, UK. After submitting his thesis on cancer research in 2011, Sven moved to Stockholm to start his first postdoctoral position at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden where he worked on primary immunodeficiency diseases. In 2013, he followed his spouse to Malaysia before moving to Singapore and started his second postdoctoral position at NUS working on immunotherapeutic targets for gastric cancer. 2016 his work led him to Tessa Therapeutics Ltd. where he joined their R&D team to develop T-cell therapies for solid tumors.
Sven joined Duke-NUS’ Laboratory for Translational and Molecular Imaging in August 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Ann-Marie Chacko. The team aims to develop new tools in molecular imaging for pre-clinical research as well as clinical applications. Sven's focus is the program in reporter gene imaging of cellular therapeutics, including immune cells and stem cells for cancer therapy.
