Bio
Dr Cher focus in the area of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and Learning Analytics in Medical Education. She is a machine learning/ artificial intelligence scientist, technical lead, passionate educator, and passionately in love with solving real world problems. She possess a multi-disciplinary skill in natural language processing (NLP), signal processing, developing web applications, digital media technology (computer vision), human movement, exercise science and machine/deep learning.
She has led teams and successfully delivered > 10 machine learning/ artificial intelligence project life cycles on time. In her past projects, she has implemented localized named entity recognition (NER) to automatically identify entities (body parts, signs & symptoms, persons) in free text of electronic health records using NLP; lead a team to develop an algorithm to detect heart disease (Brugada condition) from electrocardiogram signals in consultation with a doctor; implemented Topic Modelling, Corporate Risk Analysis, Stanford Sentiment Analysis, Text Mining using Machine Learning techniques and developed a Chatbot to solicit feedback in Facebook. She has implemented Deep Learning solutions and conducted a course on Introduction to Deep Learning.
In her latest work, she led a team to digitalize information and provide real-time analytics to the organization. Using Large Language Model (BERT sentence embedding) to automate curriculum mapping and worked together with stakeholders to visualize the school's curriculum using MS Power BI. She is also involved in developing mental health analytics and AI solutions for Samaritans of Singapore.
Her PhD thesis is an inter-disciplinary work that uses inertial sensors (signal data), computational programming and exercise science to improve human running efficiency through real-time feedback. Her PhD was conferred by School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Faculty of Health, Queensland University of Technology. Her Bachelor's and Master's Degree was conferred by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
