Bio
Arthur is an ethnographer whose research interests include caregiving, wellbeing, the science of ageing, and adult learning. He studies how people’s worldviews, perspectives, and relations are shaped, particularly around age, class, religion, and nation. He investigates everyday life practices and experiences, institutional care arrangements, and health discourses, as a means to understand the nature and dynamics of ageing amidst demographic, social, and economic changes.
Arthur is also an educator who has taught undergraduate courses and facilitated training for working professionals in the social sciences and humanities.
At CARE, Arthur seeks to contribute to active ageing, the strengthening of support for older adults with care needs, and enabling improvements to their living environment, which lead to higher quality and more equitable outcomes.
Arthur received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Southeast Asian Studies from National University of Singapore, and further trained at Singapore University of Technology and Design and Massachusetts Institute of Technology under a joint post-doctoral research fellowship programme.
