Duke-NUS Centre of Regulatory Excellence, EVYD Technology partner to advance AI governance and digital health
To navigate the complexities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in digital health, the Duke-NUS Centre of Regulatory Excellence (CoRE) and EVYD Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to leverage their combined expertise and resources to promote the responsible and effective use of AI in healthcare, and foster innovations that uphold ethics, patient privacy, and human wellbeing.
The new partnership represents a crucial step in addressing the growing ethical challenges and issues posed by the increasing use of AI technologies in healthcare. It was announced during the Healthcare AI Symposium held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront in Singapore on 12 July 2024 which marked the first anniversary of EVYD’s collaboration with A*STAR.
The primary objective of the CoRE-EVYD collaboration is to establish robust regulatory frameworks that support the responsible use of AI technologies in digital health, improving outcomes and maintaining public trust. By establishing rigorous ethical standards and harnessing AI responsibly and effectively, both organisations aim to drive positive change and set new benchmarks in AI governance and digital health.
CoRE Executive Director Professor John Lim said,
"This MoU highlights the shared commitment of the two organisations to enable AI to be harnessed responsibly and effectively to benefit society, while ensuring the development of robust and appropriate regulatory mechanisms for these technological advancements."
