Bio

Dr Andrea Low is Senior Consultant in the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School, United Kingdom and obtained the Master of Clinical Investigation at the National University of Singapore (NUS). 
 
Dr Low’s research interest is in systemic sclerosis (SSc). In 2007, Dr Low was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan Fellowship for further training in SSc. She spear-headed the nation-wide collaborative SSc research workgroup comprising Rheumatologists from SGH, National University Health System (NUHS) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). Dr Low helped to establish 5 key department research programs, and provided research mentorship during her term as the Department’s Director of Research from 2008 to 2014. She is also a recipient of the NMRC Transition Award and the Nurturing Clinician Scientist Program in 2012 for her work in SSc.
 
In addition to clinical care and research, Dr Low is actively involved in teaching students and residents, and was awarded the RISE award for outstanding faculty. She believes it is through effective mentorship that future generations of academically-inclined doctors can be nurtured and developed. Dr Low also served as a reviewer for regional and international medical journals.
