Bio
Assoc Prof Tay Kay Yaw completed his undergraduate training in Universiti Malaya, Malaysia in 1997 and obtained his MRCP (United Kingdom) in 2003. Assoc Prof Tay furthered his studies by undergoing the Advanced Specialist Training in Neurology at the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) Singapore and was recognised by the Specialist Accreditation Board as a specialist in Neurology in 2008.
Assoc Prof Tay continued to further his studies by doing a fellowship in Movement Disorders at the Toronto Western Hospital and completed his training in 2010.
On the clinical front, Assoc Prof Tay successfully implemented a quality improvement project entitled; “Parkinsonism Patients with Uncomplicated Falls: From admission to early visits.” Assoc Prof Tay has been actively involved in public and medical personnel education of Parkinson disease and had written in some health columns for Parkinson Disease patients.
Assoc Prof Tay has also been actively nurturing future generations of doctors. Due to his commitment in the medical education, he was awarded Outstanding Faculty in Neurology by Duke-NUS for the year 2015. On the administration front, Assoc Prof Tay is currently the Head of Neurological Services, Woodlands Health and is also the Duke-NUS Year 2 coordinator for NNI@TTSH. He is the site director of the psychiatry residency at NNI@TTSH and is the Director of the Community Care Partnership Programme for Parkinson Disease in NNI. He is also currently holding a position as a Board Member of Parkinson Society Singapore.
