Bio

Dr Jason Chan obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore and achieved his postgraduate accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians (UK). He completed specialist training at the National Cancer Centre Singapore and subsequently obtained a Doctorate from the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore. Currently, he is Consultant Medical Oncologist at the National Cancer Centre Singapore and Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. He concurrently serves as Director of the Cancer Discovery Hub and Deputy Director of Medical Oncology Research at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. At the national level, he serves as Platform Lead for the Singapore Translational Cancer Consortium, supporting various multi-institution projects at the national-level. Recognizing his leadership potential, he is also a proud alumnus of the ESMO Leadership Generation Program in 2022.

Dr Chan has special clinical interests in lymphomas and rare cancers including sarcomas and melanomas. His key research interests lie in unravelling the causes and molecular pathobiology of rare cancers with the aim of improving clinical care of patients inflicted with these diseases. Dr Chan is Principal Investigator of the STARLIGHT Initiative for Rare Cancer Research and Education. Additionally, he is Theme Principal Investigator for SYMPHONY (Singapore Lymphoma Translational Study) and Executive Committee member for TETRAD (TargEted TheRApy for blooD Cancer). He has contributed to major research efforts on Asian-prevalent lymphomas including NK/T-cell lymphomas and monomorphic epitheliotropic T-cell lymphoma, as well as breast fibroepithelial tumors, angiosarcomas, and liposarcomas. For these efforts, he was awarded the NMRC Transition Award in 2021 and SingHealth Distinguished Young Researcher Award in 2023. https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4801-3703

He is a strong advocate of education and is heavily involved in the mentorship of medical students, clinical residents and budding researchers. He serves as Core Faculty Member for the SingHealth Medical Oncology Residency Program, Physician Faculty Member for the SingHealth Advanced Internal Medicine Residency Program, and Mentor for the SingHealth Internal Medicine Residency Program. For his efforts, he has been conferred the National University of Singapore Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence and SingHealth RiSE Outstanding Faculty Awards.
