Bio
Dr. Soong is a Senior Consultant Radiation Oncologist and the current Deputy Chairman of the Division of Radiation Oncology, National Cancer Centre Singapore.
Dr. Soong graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2000. In 2006, he was awarded the Singhealth Health Manpower Development Programme Award to further his training at the University College London Hospital, United Kingdom.
He has a special interest in Head and Neck cancers, in particular, the treatment of nasopharyngeal cancers and the impact of treatment on the quality of life of patients. He was the education and training lead of the Proton Therapy Implementation Committee, which was responsible for setting up the proton therapy centre at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. Dr Soong is especially concerned with helping cancer survivors transition from the hospital to a community setting through the education of primary care providers; he has been the medical advisor for the Nasopharyngeal Cancer Support Group at NCCS since 2009.
