Bio

Dr Yoon-Sim Yap is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Medical Oncology at National Cancer Centre Singapore, Visiting Consultant at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and Associate Professor at Duke-National University Singapore. She obtained her undergraduate and postgraduate medical degrees from the University of Adelaide in Australia, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

After completing her specialist training in Medical Oncology in Australia, she did a research fellowship with the Breast Unit at Royal Marsden Hospital, London. Dr. Yap has been practising in Singapore since 2006, focusing specifically on breast cancer. Her research interests include predictive biomarkers and development of novel treatment strategies in addition to survival outcomes. She is actively involved in clinical trials, and is the Principal Investigator of several studies for various compounds including HER2-targeted therapies, CDK inhibitors, selective estrogen receptor degraders, and PI3K inhibitors in addition to investigator-initiated studies. In 2019 and again in 2024, Dr. Yap received the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Clinician Scientist Award (CSA) for her breast cancer research.
