Bio

Dr Nathalie Chiam is an ophthalmologist with an additional subspecialty interest in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. She practises at the Singapore National Eye Centre and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She is currently an Associate Consultant in the Cataract & Comprehensive Ophthalmology Department. 

She graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery following a prior Bachelor of Medical Science. Thereafter, she obtained a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology and completed specialist ophthalmology training with the American Council of Graduate Medical Education - International (ACGME-I) accredited Singhealth Ophthalmology Residency Program. 

Dr Chiam has been recognized for her academic and service excellence. She was the Chief Resident in 2018-2020 and an alumnus of the Singapore Chief Residency Program. She has also received multiple awards including the SingHealth Outstanding Resident award in 2017 and 2018, and Singhealth award for Quality Improvement Project in 2019. 

Dr Chiam is actively involved in educating the next generation of medical and nursing students, she serves as a clinical instructor for Curtin University’s clinical nursing graduate certificate program. She is also active in clinical research, besides having presented in various conferences, she has also published in several peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of the American Association for Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Journal of Ophthalmology, Translational Vision Science and Technology, Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology.
