Bio
Clinical Associate Professor Ho holds both a Paediatrics as well as Ophthalmology specialist degrees. She completed a Paediatric and Neonatal traineeship after her internship and was awarded the Wong Hock Boon Gold Medal for being the most outstanding candidate in the Master of Medicine (Paeds) Examinations in1995. She subsequently completed her specialist training in Ophthalmology and was conferred the Master of Medicine (Ophth) as well as Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999.
She was awarded the HMDP clinical fellowship and completed a clinical fellowship in Glaucoma with subspecialty in childhood glaucomas and complex adult glaucomas in 2003 at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School. She received the Best Paper Award at the New England Ophthalmological Society Meeting in 2003.
She was the immediate past Head of Glaucoma Department, a position she held for almost a decade. During her tenure, she helped developed the Department to one of the largest in SNEC with all-round capabilities and comprehensive services for all types of glaucoma including childhood glaucoma, as well as the Primary Eye Clinic for the management of stable glaucoma patients.
Clinical Associate Professor Ho is actively involved in clinical teaching and research, as well as community service. She is an invited speaker and faculty member at numerous regional and international conferences. She has tutored many local and international students, trainees and fellows and is an examiner for the postgraduate ophthalmology examinations. For her work in the Asia-Pacific region, she was conferred the Holmes Lecture Award, the Prevention of Blindness Award, as well as the Distinguished Service Award for outstanding services to Ophthalmology by the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. She was also a recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award amongst many other awards for her dedication to her work.
She is currently the Director of Strategic Development and Philanthropy, Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Programme (EYE ACP), and chairs several charity and philanthropic committees in aid of VisionSave and other non-profit organizations.
Clinical Associate Professor Ho’s research interests include paediatric glaucoma, new glaucoma surgery techniques and devices, aqueous shunt devices, lasers in glaucoma, angle closure glaucoma and anterior segment imaging.
