Bio
Assoc Prof Ryan Man is a Clinician-Scientist with the Population Health Research Unit at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), and a Junior Principal investigator in the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) Optometry Service. He has a keen interest in assessing the impact of eye diseases and associated treatment modalities from a patient’s perspective using novel and sophisticated adaptive patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) that tailors the questions administered to respondents to the participants level of visual ability at every step of the testing process using ‘smart’ technology (computerized adaptive testing or CAT). His current research focuses on the feasibility and clinical impact of implementing these novel PROM-CATs into the routine clinical workflow in specialty Ophthalmology clinics. He is also interested in quantifying and correlating the clinical, patient-reported, and economic outcomes of novel ophthalmic interventions with that of standard of care treatment.
Assoc Prof Ryan Man is currently a principal investigator on 3 national level grants awarded by Singapore’s National Medical Research Council (NMRC) and has also published widely in other areas of health services and public health research including risk factors associated with the development and progression of eye diseases, randomized controlled trials evaluating novel ocular intervention strategies, as well as the effectiveness of behavioral interventions to improve patient outcomes in Ophthalmology.
