Bio
Dr Law Yan Mee holds the positions of Senior Consultant at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology in Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Duke NUS Medical School. With a career spanning over two decades, Dr Law is a highly respected radiologist who has earned a strong professional reputation in Singapore and international medical communities in the field of abdominal imaging, particularly in genitourinary radiology. Upon receiving her postgraduate degree from the Royal College of Radiologists in 2005, she underwent advanced radiology training in the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). In 2008, she left for the USA to become one of the first local radiologists to be fellowship trained in the subspecialty of genitourinary imaging. In 2013, she was selected to collaborate at the National Institute of Health (NIH), USA in advanced prostate cancer MRI imaging, where she co-authored over 15 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 2 book chapters with leading world experts in the field. These collaborations to advance this critical field of cancer diagnosis with cutting edge research are on-going today. In the present day, Dr Law has been chosen as a key member of a global panel of radiologists participating in ground-breaking projects to validate the use of artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning for MRI prostate imaging. This initiative holds the potential to significantly enhance the quality of early prostate cancer diagnosis based on MRI.
More than anyone else, Dr Law contributed much to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of prostate in Singapore and today MRI is the gold standard for imaging of prostate cancer. Her expertise in genitourinary radiology is highly sought after and valued by her clinical colleagues in SGH. Urologists across the country and the region frequently seek her expert opinions on complex MRI prostate cases, highlighting her significant impact on patient care and safety, particularly in our aging communities. Her primary area of interest lies in prostate cancer imaging, with a particular focus on early prostate cancer and prostate cancer focal therapy, a rapidly evolving field.
As the departmental clinical lead for genitourinary radiology, Dr Law chairs the weekly Multidisciplinary Team conference of the Departments of Urology and Diagnostic Radiology. The consistently high attendance at this conference stands as a testament to the exceptional quality of clinical discussions she facilitates. Recognized regionally for her outstanding work, Dr Law has been invited to lecture at various local and regional meetings, particularly on the subjects of prostate cancer and genitourinary diseases. On the research front, she collaborates with urologists, renal physicians and radiation oncologists and is a co-investigator in several National Medical Research Council grant-funded projects and participates in national and international clinical trials of genitourinary diseases. Dr Law boasts a remarkable portfolio of over 40 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, with a H-index of 17. Dr Law is also acknowledged to be an excellent educator and she is actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. She is the Course Director of the SGH Prostate MRI Teaching Course, a very highly subscribed regional educational programme.
