Bio
Dr Frederick Koh is a Consultant in the Department of Colorectal Surgery, Division of General Surgery, Sengkang General Hospital.
Dr Koh graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2012 and received his formal surgical training in National University Health System (NUHS). He completed his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Surgery) in 2014, and obtained the Masters of Medicine (Surgery) from the NUS in 2016. He completed the General Surgery Residency Programme as the Chief Resident for General Surgery in 2019 and become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (General Surgery) in 2019. He now practices in Sengkang General Hospital's Department of General Surgery and is subspecialising in Colorectal Surgery.
His clinical interests include the various aspects of colorectal surgical oncology, proctology as well as acute care surgery. Receiving training in both minimally invasive and open surgery, Dr Koh is well versed in both laparoscopic and conventional open techniques of surgery.
Other than clinical contributions, Dr Koh places emphasis on the importance of Academic Surgery. He is published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and enjoys both clinical as well as basic science research, pertaining to the field of General and Colorectal Surgery. He has held grants and has experience in conducting both population-based and trial-based research and intends to continue his pursuit of Academia in order to continue to participate in the continuous improvement to clinical practice to serve his patients best.
Dr Koh also believes in Clinical Education and is active in the development of future doctors and specialists. He was awarded the Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence AY 18/19 by NUS. His contributions to Clinical and Research Education have been recognised with the Role Model Certificate of Commendation and Wong Hock Boon Society, Singapore Medical Association Charity Fund Outstanding Mentor Award.
