Bio

Associate Professor Chan Cheng Leng is the Group Director, Health Products Regulation Group, at Health Sciences Authority (HSA), Singapore. She has a wealth of experience in health products regulation and safety monitoring.

As the chief health products regulator, she leads the development and implementation of national policies and oversees the Group’s operations, ensuring the timely availability of safe and efficacious quality health products to safeguard and advance public health. Additionally, she is instrumental in driving excellence and innovation in regulatory science.

Under her leadership, HSA achieved a significant milestone in January 2022 by becoming the first National Regulatory Authority in the world to receive the highest recognition for an advanced medicines regulatory system from the World Health Organization (WHO) followed by the prestigious WHO Listed Authority (WLA) recognition in Oct 2023. These achievements position Singapore as a globally trusted and advanced regulator for medicines, thereby contributing to good public health outcomes in Singapore and beyond.
She also actively spearheads national initiatives to enhance the safety monitoring of medicines and medical devices. Under her stewardship, Singapore has consistently been ranked by the WHO as one of the leading countries for adverse drug reactions reporting.
In addition to her regulatory responsibilities, Associate Professor Chan is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals; she has been imparting her expertise in pharmacovigilance and health products regulation to undergraduates at various universities in Singapore since 2008.

In recognition of her outstanding service to the nation, she has received several national awards including the prestigious Public Administration Medals and awards from the Minister for Health. In 2022, she was also conferred with the Public Sector Exemplary Leader Award and the National Day Awards (COVID-19) in acknowledgement of her exemplary leadership.
