Bio

Dr. Lee graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences and completed a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. She joined Professor Shirish Shenolikar at Duke-NUS Medical School as a postdoctoral research fellow, focusing on signal transduction in the unfolded protein response. With extensive research experience and a growing interest in effective teaching and learner motivation, she pursued a year-long fellowship in medical education under Professor Scott Compton and Professor Sandy Cook at Duke-NUS in 2017. This experience fueled her passion for combining research and teaching to promote excellence in medical education.
Currently an Assistant Professor in the MD Programme Department at Duke-NUS Medical School, Dr. Lee co-directs the preclinical course Foundations of Patient Care 1 (FPC1), where she has led curriculum enhancements, including integrating basic and clinical sciences, managing cognitive load, and adopting multi-modality approaches in anatomy education. Since 2021, as the Quality Assurance Lead in the Quality Assurance & Accreditation Department, she facilitates and co-develops initiatives to systematically review the school’s quality management system through data digitization, analytics, and visualization. Co-leading the department with Professor Scott Compton, she has engaged multiple stakeholders in critically self-reviewing MD curriculum and educational practices. The same spark that initially drew her to medical education has not only persisted but grown stronger. Dr. Lee is also pursuing a Master of Education in the Health Professions at Johns Hopkins University to further her impact as an effective medical educator and leader. Her scholarly work has resulted in numerous publications, book chapters, and invited presentations, reflecting her steadfast commitment to improving medical education and fostering the next generation of doctors.
Mirroring the educational ethos of the School, Dr. Lee is committed to improve the practice of education and fostering the next generation of doctors through her unique blend of scientific research rigor, educational experience, training and leadership skills.
