Bio

Dr Sashikumar Ganapathy is currently a Senior Consultant and Head of Department in Department of Emergency Medicine at KK Hospital. 

Dr Ganapathy’s areas of interest are Medical Education and Innovation, primarily in the field of designing and planning learning, teaching and facilitating learning as well as educational research and scholarship. Recently, he has been involved in enhancing education through the use of technology and optimizing educational and work output using technologically enhanced programs and human factors analysis. As an Emergency Pediatrician, his main interests are in pediatric resuscitation, toxicology, optimizing delivery of care and services as well as evidence-based emergency practice. 

Dr Ganapathy has been appointed as Assistant Dean of Clinical Integration in Duke-NUS overseeing clinical integration across the pre-clinical and clinical years and contribute to the undergraduate program as Co- Course director of the Body and Disease Course, Core Faculty of the CARE Program and as an instructor in the year 2 pediatric clerkship. He is the Clinical Coordinator of Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Phase 4 and 5 Pediatric clerkship program in KK Hospital. He is also involved as a core faculty of Lee Kong Chian School of medicine for the Child Health Program and a core faculty member of the Pediatric Residency program. His various other involvement in education includes designing, planning and implementation of the education curriculum in the Emergency Department in KK Hospital and inter-professional education spanning from nursing education and communications education.  

Dr Ganapathy is keenly involved in Medical Innovation and Care transformation with the creation of a Pediatric Chatbot as well as Telecollaborative consults within the emergency department and across hospital emergency departments in Singapore. He has worked on creating educational teaching programs using Virtual reality games as a teaching platform. He also has a keen interest in improving health delivery, enabling the primary healthcare sector in pediatric medicine, optimizing efficiency and maintaining safety of staff and patients.
