Summary of Teaching Experience
Prof Compton has an extensive background in medical education, curriculum development, and faculty development, spanning undergraduate, postgraduate, and faculty training. His teaching philosophy emphasizes research-driven education, assessment, and mentorship to equip healthcare professionals with the skills needed to advance patient care and translational medicine.
At Duke-NUS Medical School, he has been instrumental in curriculum and assessment development, contributing to program evaluation and faculty training initiatives. His role includes leading efforts to integrate innovative educational strategies into the MD curriculum, fostering a translational approach to medical education, and overseeing assessment methodologies to ensure effective student learning.
Prof Compton played a foundational role in establishing the Duke-NUS Master of International Translational Medicine (MITM) program, providing structured mentorship and research training to promote systemic capacity for translational medicine. He also has served as Education Lead for the Eureka Institute for Translational Medicine’s “Monsoon School”, where he designed and facilitated an intensive week-long experience for early-career researchers.
His global teaching experience includes delivering research methodology and medical education workshops across multiple institutions, including:
