Bio

Dr. Hwee Goon Tay is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Vison Research in Duke-NUS Medical School. She obtained her PhD from the National University of Singapore and subsequently received post-doctoral training at Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders Program in DUKE-NUS Medical School (Singapore) and Upstate Medical University (New York, USA). Dr Tay has been awarded Young Individual Research Grant (National Medical Research Council) and Competitive Research Program Grant (National Research Foundation) for her stem cell research work to study and develop therapeutics for aged related macular degeneration that causes blindness. In addition, she has also received philanthropic funding for her research work in rare inherited retinal diseases. HG is co-inventors for her patented methods in laminin based photoreceptor differentiation and laminin based reprogramming of ganglion progenitors. She is also currently a co-founder of start up Biotech Company, Alder Therapeutics.
