The Duke-NUS Medical Alumni (DNMA) was officially registered with the Singapore Registry of Societies on 15 April 2013. Founded by a pro-term committee of ten volunteers from the MD Classes of 2011 and 2012, the society was created to represent and promote the interests of Duke-NUS graduates and our alma mater.
The official launch of DNMA took place during Duke-NUS’ inaugural fundraising and graduation Gala Dinner on 30 May 2013. The event was graced by then Singapore’s President Dr. Tony Tan, and attended by approximately 900 distinguished guests, including leaders, faculty, staff, graduates and their families. The DNMA was first helmed by our founding President Dr Chia Ghim Song (Class of 2011), and continues to flourish under the leadership of our current President Dr. Anuradha Pandey (Class of 2015) and the 5th management committee. The current committee comprises 24 members, with representatives spanning the Classes of 2013 to 2023, and continues to grow in strength and numbers.
The DNMA plays a vital role in keeping our alumni connected to each other and the school, through a variety of professional, social, and community service opportunities. Members of the DNMA can look forward to events such as our signature Duke-NUS Dialogues, movie nights, inter-class gatherings as well as class reunions. These events are aimed at fostering a collaborative spirit amongst the alumni, and providing opportunities for the alumni to interact with current students.
The DNMA is also extremely honoured to have awarded Honorary Memberships to 3 distinguished leaders: Mr Tony Chew, Duke-NUS Emiritus Professor K Ranga Rama Krishnan and Professor Ivy Ng. As the founding Chairman of the Duke-NUS Governing Board (2005-2012), former Dean of Duke-NUS (2008-2015) and SingHealth Group CEO (2012-2024) respectively, their visionary leadership has been instrumental in Duke-NUS’ remarkable growth and her reputation as an internationally acclaimed centre for medical education and research. They are exemplary role models for our community, and their unwavering support continues to be a cornerstone of DNMA and its initiatives.
